Golden caramel, creamy custard, 100% vegan bliss!
Vegan Canele recipe:
1. Heat the soy milk in a small saucepan until it begins to boil. Remove from heat and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, combine the silken tofu, rice flour, agave syrup, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil. Mix well until smooth.
3. Gradually pour the heated soy milk into the mixture while stirring to avoid lumps.
4. Cover the vegan canelé mixture and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
5. After refrigeration, remove the batter and stir in the rum. Allow it to sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
6. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 225°C (435°F).
7. Grease the canelé molds with a light coating of oil and fill each about ¾ full with the batter.
8. Place the molds in the preheated oven and bake for 9 minutes at 225°C (435°F). Reduce the oven temperature to 180°C (350°F) and bake for an additional 1 hour, or until golden brown.
9. Once baked, let the canelés cool in the molds before removing them. They will be easier to handle when fully cooled.
