- 1 lb confectioner's sugar 454 g
- 1 cup unsalted butter 225 g, room temperature
- 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream 45 mL
- ½ tsp salt

How to make buttercream frosting?
1. Using a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment or a hand mixer, whip the butter and salt for about a minute.
2. Sift in the confectioner’s sugar in several batches, beating on low after each addition. Make sure to scrape the bowl down and repeat the process.
3. While mixing on low, add a tablespoon of cream and then add the vanilla.
4. Beat the mixture until you get an even, fluffy consistency. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add more cream or milk.
Tips for making Buttercream Frosting
- To avoid clogging the piping tips, it is recommended to sift the powdered sugar.
- It is essential to scrape the bowl down to ensure consistency throughout.
- Buttercream can be flavored with a variety of ingredients, such as fruit juice, coffee, orange blossom or rose water, melted chocolate, or Oreos.
- If the buttercream has been sitting for some time or has been chilled and brought back to room temperature, it is advisable to give it a quick whip to restore its consistency.
- For a very spreadable and smooth icing, you can add the full amount of cream (and perhaps even a little more).
